PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS
• If there is a lack of progress, there is probably a lack of practice! A student’s progress is determined by dedicated practice, not by simply attending lessons. Ideally, students should practice 4-5 days a week. Specific amounts of practice time are not assigned to each student.
Instead, students should practice long enough to complete their weekly assignments.
• The quality of practice time is more important than the quantity of practice time.
• Parental Support is an extremely important factor in musical training. Students whose parents take an active role in their progress tend to be more enthusiastic and productive. Create a quiet space where the student can practice and schedule a time for practice each day.
CANCELLATION POLICIES
Cancellation by Student
• The studio has a strict 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.
• If a student is a “no-show” or if a lesson is cancelled by the student with less than 24-hours notice, the lesson will be forfeited and the tuition will not be refunded for the missed lesson.
• Students are allowed to reschedule ONE lesson per month in the event of illness, family emergency or school events. Please notify me by 12pm if you cannot attend. Students who are mildly ill must attend the lesson online during their scheduled time. We will use the time to work on music theory (Ex: vocal diction, ear training, music reading, repertoire and audition consultation).
• If the student misses more than 2 lessons in a 4-week period without advance notice, I reserve the right to drop the student. It is not possible to make progress if the student is missing lessons excessively.
If the student arrives to an in-person lesson while sick, this will be considered a cancellation without 24 hours' notice.
Discontinuation of lessons
• If a student chooses to discontinue lessons, a one-month written notice is required.
• Tuition for the final month must be paid in full, regardless of attendance. This allows for proper lesson planning and scheduling adjustments.
• If a student withdraws without providing notice, the remaining month’s tuition will still be due.
• Exceptions may be made for unexpected relocations or serious medical emergencies.
Cancellation by Teacher
If I am forced to cancel a scheduled lesson for any reason, I will provide notice and I will make up the lesson at the nearest available time.
Holidays / Studio Breaks
Please Note that the studio is NOT closed on every national holiday. Sometimes Monday students
WILL have lessons on a day when there is no school. The studio is ALWAYS closed on:
• Martin Luther King Day
• President’s Day
• Memorial Day
• 4th of July
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday break (usually the week of Thanksgiving)
• December 23rd – Jan 3rd
Additional Studio Breaks or days off may occur during holiday breaks or between semesters, and are always announced well in advance. The calendar is subject to change.
